Lighter Springtime Reds Super Six
In the Spring many people are looking for reds just a little lighter in body to enjoy with their favourite seasonal fare. Here you’ll save 30% on two bottles each of a trio of fine reds that make perfect Springtime drinking.
Two of them are from Victoria’s Yarra Valley, one a 94pt Yarra Pinot Noir with strawberry, cherry, pepper and spice flavours, with the Yarra’s cool climate acidity keeping the “elegant and flowing” palate “stylish and seamless” as Sam Kim, Wine Orbit notes.Awarding the Allinda Limited Edition Syrah 93pts, Ray Jordan calls it “A fragrant light to medium bodied Syrah made in a style that is becoming increasingly prevalent in places like the Yarra Valley.” It has plenty of colour, fruit, savoury notes, hints of licorice and a dusting of expected pepper and spice but there’s a pleasing elegance to it too. Great Spring sipping.
Parcel Selecta is an exciting special project red, juicy and succulent, but pehaps a little finer and more elegant than many Argentine Malbecs. It’s from a fine cellar, named as a 'New World Top 5' winery. Leading the winemaking team here is Miriam Gomez, who has worked at some of the world's top cellars, including £355-a-bottle Opus One. The wine is aged well over a year in barrel, the rest in bottle, and it’s gloriously silky, with dark plum, cassis, strawberry and notes of cherry and vanilla, it makes a fine elegant partner with fillet steak and garden salad.
