Argentina's Malbec is a wine phenomenon and a 'brand' almost unto itself like Marlborough's Sauvignon Blanc, or Barossa Shiraz. Red wine lovers have taken to it with a passion. The finest and most ageworthy come from Mendoza's Uco Valley, the highest stretches of which lie at well over 1200 metres.
Parcel Selecta is an exciting opportunity to secure this special project red. It's from an ace cellar, named as a 'New World Top 5' winery. Leading their winemaking is Miriam Gomez, who has worked at some of the world's top cellars, including £355-a-bottle Opus One. Aged well over a year in barrel, the rest in bottle, this fine red has dark plum, cassis, strawberry and cherry notes, rippled by the toasty vanilla of oak. Gloriously silky, a fine elegant partner with fillet steak.
