With scores of 93, 93, 94pts and Great Value this is as Jeni Port writes in The Halliday Wine Companion: ""…another fine example of an uber-friendly and delicious shiraz… Holds a tight core of ripe, sweet black fruits, cacao, earth, dried herbs and spices laid out against a smooth palate. Immediate and engaging appeal at a great price. 94pts."
For Ray Jordan, WinePilot it :"…displays lovely brightness and a spicy edge, with a mix of red berry, dried spices, and subtle plummy plushness" and "…is already drinking beautifully, offering impressive value and depth. 93pts.” (Ray Jordan, WinePilot).
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit is another fan: "The palate is wonderfully weighted, offering a plump mouthfeel and a fleshy texture. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, resulting in a long, delectable finish."
In 1920, wine lover Reg Purbrick was offered a glass of brandy from Château Tahbilk. Five years later, he purchased the property unseen! Reg's son Eric inherited his father's love of wine and, during the Great Depression, he gave up a law degree to decamp to Oz and take up the reins at Tahbilk. Three generations later, Hayley Purbrick is in charge of sustainability, while her father, Alistair, runs the estate. Since 1995, they've looked hard at sustainability and are just one of 8 wineries worldwide to be classified carbon neutral. Their 160 hectares of regenerated wetland and native vegetation are beneficial to the climate, as well as offering trails for all to enjoy.
