The Wine

Italian varieties shine in this multi-Gold, high-scoring Barossa red from a 5-star rated Barossa winery. It's a: "… floral-edged and fruit pure blend of negroamaro, aglianico and montepulciano that shows notes of deep, dark plum fruits, blackberry and kirsch with underlying hints of graphite, dark spices, something vaguely leathery, pan juices and turned earth. There is a cascade of fine tannin that suffuses through the wine, finishing dark, earthy and hinting towards a combination with a ragu-led pasta dish.92pts. Great Value” (Dave Brookes, The Halliday Wine Companion).

“Now we’re talking. This attractive light-to-medium weight red wine is made with Negroamaro, Montepulciano and Aglianico grapes. It’s the Barossa Valley, soft and(deliciously) drinkable, but not quite as we usually know it, or at least with a point of difference.… The word impeccable springs to mind.” 93pts Campbell Mattinson. Steve Leszczynski in Qwine Review writes that it’s: “A gorgeous drink… fabulous…that oozes food-friendly appeal … a most impressive blend. 93pts.”

Craig Stansborough and Mark Slade started Purple Hands in southern Barossa in 2006, from humble beginnings, making just 100 dozen the first vintage. Today "Purple Hands captures the purity and elegance that is possible when the raw materials are in good hands." Dave Brookes, The Halliday Wine Companion.
