"From rising star Aaron Mercer comes this gently oaked Hunter chardonnay, showing fresh peach, lemon and vanilla aromas with a hint of roasted nuts. Concentrated flavours on the way to a crisp, grapefruit-lined finish. Excellent value." (John Lehmann, The Weekend Australian magazine).
Born-and-bred Hunter Valley specialist, Aaron Mercer spent years at Tamburlaine, and had stints at Tyrrell’s and Brokenwood, before setting up on his own. He’s also worked in California, France and Germany so brings a great deal of experience to his winemaking, with a great small-batch range from premium Hunter Valley sites, Tumbarumba and Orange. This classy, gently oaked 93pt Hunter Chardonnay boasts fresh peach, vanilla, and pannacotta flavours and a nutty edge. “... powerful, concentrated flavours... distinctly citrusy with lemon and grapefruit flavours... It offers freshness, flavour and finesse. Amazing value. 93pts.” (Toni Paterson, The Halliday Wine Companion).
