The Wine
The Silent Partner wines were born as a celebration of his late father by winemaker Sam Brand. They are from the same Cabernet vineyard each year, and always use Jim Brand’s winemaking techniques as a celebrated Coonawarra vigneron. “... look at the ’21, an amazing, stellar year from Coonawarra. It was a magical vintage where we had beautiful fruit, beautiful ripening and almost a dense kind of wine that’s melted into its maturity.” says winemaker Sam Brand. "Like an uncle who’s old enough to impart wisdom but young enough to be cool, this is one well balanced wine. There’s layers of fruit on the nose, with blackberry and plum with mulberry and blackberry compote, but also mint and eucalypt, black pepper and an earthiness. There’s more beautiful fruit on a palate that’s generous and juicy, notes of blackcurrant and mulberry sprinkled with vanilla, while the tannins are velvety and soft. " John Lehmann, The Australian.
