Enjoy a vibrant and impressively well-made Pinot Noir, of elegance and varietal purity from vineyards in Victoria not far from Melbourne. Moreish but with enough complexity to make it a great food partner especially with duck.
It comes from the rising star Greenstone Ridge winery, with two vineyards, one in Heathcote, the other from the Yarra Valley – (Yarra legend Rob Dolan’s old ‘Sticks’ winery vineyard, and formerly called Yarra Ridge – first planted in 1983 by Louis Bialkower and his good friend James Halliday!). This site, where the Pinot for this is from, is the home of the winery itself, about an hour away from Melbourne.
The name Greenstone Ridge is derived from the ancient Cambrian soils in the Heathcote vineyard. These – the result of underwater volcanic activity – are some of the oldest in the country – and have a deep, iron-rich red colour mottled with lime green-tinted copper-infused basalt!
