96pt, multi Gold-winning, triumphant Victorian Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon of great depth and balance. This Reserve, only produced in great vintages is named after the lareger-than-life, great wine educator and wine judge Colin Richardson, who passed away in 1999, aged just 53.
As Toni Paterson writes in The Halliday Wine Companion, the 2022: "…carries a strong regional identity, with its perfumed dark berries and leafy accents. It has a lovely flow and is well-poised for ageing. A distinct savoury thread runs through the palate, with notes of bracken, bay leaf and sandalwood sitting alongside the elegant blue fruits. The oak influence and tannin feel slightly weighty for the fruit intensity, though it has always been a more structural style. It needs some time to mellow and evolve. 96pts”
For Huon Hooke in The Real Review there are: "… red fruit and violet aromas, a hint of mulberry, fine sensitively handled oak, and the full-bodied palate has a firm but balanced grip of ripe tannins. Serious concentration. This would certainly reward a little cellar time. 94pts."
