The Wine
We travelled 10,000 miles and sampled 2,000 wines to find the original Patriots Merlot, named in honour of the founding fathers of Chilean independence. It sold out in weeks, proving there’s a legion of fans looking for the smoothest, juiciest, best value Chilean Merlot available. So every year our Buyer returns to Chile, seeking out a wine worthy of the name The Patriots. This year he found it at four time ‘Winery of the Year’ LFE, owned by our old friend Luis Felipe Edwards. The 2021 has all the plummy richness Patriots fans have come to expect, with added depth of flavour, spice and savoury character courtesy of the deft hand of chief winemaker Nicolas Bizzarri. It’s an ideal red to enjoy as a glass solo or with lamb chops or chicken.
