The Wine
Attractive and almost dangerously easy to drink, Adelaide Hills Sauvignon from Tim Knappstein – varietally bang on, with scores of 90, 92 and 93pts. Tim Knappstein is a 3rd-generation vigneron, his winemaking lineage dating back to 1893 in the Clare Valley. He sold his Clare Estate Knappstein in 1981 and moved to Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills, where today under the Riposte label, he produces “consistently excellent wines” (Halliday) and ”few people know the the Adelaide Hills like Tim Knappstein and naturally this shows in his wines.” (Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot). For Sam Kim, Wine Orbit this is: “Brightly fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows white flesh nectarine, crunchy apple, capsicum, and lemon zest aromas. The palate delivers excellent fruit intensity with fine texture and crisp acidity....” Stuart Knox in The Real Review finds ” Classic varietal citrus and green gras” on the palate, and a “touch of sweetness in the middle but a zip of acidity ensures the finish is refreshing and clean”. For Tijana Laganin, WinePilot this is a Sauvignon "...with panache... with undeniable mass appeal. Sauvignon Blanc that will appease even the varietal naysayers".
