Paxton AAA Shiraz Grenache 2014

Paxton is a 5 red star family estate headed up by David Paxton, one of Australia’s best-known viticulturists and consultants, with the wines being made by David’s son Michael. The estate consists of five vineyards, all of them biodynamic. The ‘AAA’ refers to David’s days in the wool trade, where this symbol was stamped on the best grades of wool. The fruit is 62% Shiraz and 38% Grenache from special pockets amongst the vineyards, including the prime ‘Gateway’ and ‘Jones Block’ vineyards...definitely AAA material!

“Both bright and textural throughout. Laced with spice and earth notes but red/black berried fruit holds the floor. Unencumbered by (obvious) oak but it feels supple and suede-like … 92 points” (Halliday).
