The Wine
A Gold-medal ‘Grand’ Barossa GSM from ‘the birthplace of the Barossa as Château Tanunda has been called. It was established in 1890 and is the site of some of the Valley’s first vines planted as well as its first winery. After falling into decline, John Geber, who has owned it since 1998, has restored both the impressive winery building and the estate’s reputation.
“A 67/22/11% blend, matured for 18 months in new and used French oak. Partial whole bunch fermentation for the grenache, all the components vinified in small batches. Rich, full-flavoured, but not overdone... 94pts. Great Value” (Halliday).
