The Wine
A lavishly rich and grand Barossa Cabernet from ‘the birthplace of the Barossa' as Château Tanunda has been called. It was established in 1890 and is the site of some of the Valley’s first vines planted as well as its first winery. After falling into decline, John Geber, who has owned it since 1998, has restored both the impressive winery building and the estate’s reputation. It truly is grand. And so are its wines – taste this inky black and intense beauty and see. Lifted aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and vanilla are accompanied by vibrant, dark berry fruits on the palate. The finish is long with fine-grained tannins from eighteen months maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels. The tannins are slowly softening thanks to time in bottle. Gold at Berliner Wine Trophy and many 90+ scores.
