Australia's First Familes of Wine Reds Dozen
Dating back to 1858, Tyrrell’s are the oldest estate represented in the case, with their Blacksmith’s Hut Heathcote Shiraz showcasing the work of fifth-generation winemaker Chris Tyrrell. Alongside it you’ll find Shiraz from McLaren Vale’s innovative d’Arenberg, in the form of the powerful Thunderstep.
Two prominent families tell the story of the Clare Valley’s rise to winemaking prominence, and both of them bring two different wines to this showcase. Taylors’ Heritage Release Cabernet is an aromatic and juicy favourite with two Gold medals and a Double Gold, outdone only by the Heritage Release Shiraz and its phenomenal SEVENTEEN Gold medals. Jim Barry Wines, now run by Jim’s grandchildren, also impresses with their rich, hearty Eastern Ranges Malbec and the luscious 95pt McKay’s Single Vineyard Grenache.
