A thoroughly appealing, fruit first Yarra Cab that has won 95pts twice and has been highlighted for its great value too. After 25 years of making wine for some of Australia’s most iconic wineries, Yarra Valley legend – Rob Dolan, made the decision to channel his passion and skill into his own label. Rob’s decades of friendships with the region's top growers gives them access to the premier vineyards of the Yarra Valley. The White Label is their flagship range, and the purple-hued Cabernet is dense with blueberry, dark cherry and mocha on a bed of fine tannins.
With seven Golds to its name including two Double Golds, and scores between 90-96, this is a delicious Barossa Shiraz that's won plaudits from show judges and critics – and customers too. " Sweetly ripe and perfumed, the wine shows blackberry, dark plum, thyme, clove and roasted nut aromas, followed by a succulent palate that's supple and fleshy. An astonishing 12 separate clones of Shiraz from across Sidewood's Adelaide Hills vineyards goes into this amazing 96pt, multi-Gold-winning wine. Majority hand-picked, selectively harvested, wild yeast fermented with partial whole-bunch, whole-berry, extended maceration. Matured in French oak (300L puncheons and 500L hogshead) for 18 months, 25% new. A host of high scores include a massive 96pts from Halliday, who praises its flawlwess balance and calls it Exceptional value. Sam Kim, Wine Orbit adds that is "beautifully weighted palate displaying supple texture backed by fine-grained tannins, finishing long and delectable". This is a feast of black and blue fruit, with spicy and savoury edges. Delicious on its own or as a versatile partner to filet mignon or truffle and porcini pasta. Endlessly complex and approachable.
Juicy, smooth and oh-so-easy to drink, the 94pt Colab & Bloom Tempranillo smells of violets, ripe cherry and vanilla. On the palate there are nuances of dusty earth, rich red fruits, vanilla and sun-baked leather. Grown in David Blows' Macclesfield Vineyard in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. "Offering fabulous fruit purity and perfume, the wine shows sweet plum, blueberry, floral and subtle spice aromas, leading to a succulent palate that's plump and silky. Halliday praises its "vibrant freshness" and gives this 95pts plus a Special Value star. "This is bold and robust, showing blackcurrant, tar, cured meat and rich floral aromas on the nose.
