Wine Summary
The combination of site, vintage and clonal selection has produced this outstanding J Block Shiraz which epitomises classy, cool-climate Yarra Valley red winemaking. TarraWarra have crafted a wine that can easily compete with wines many times its price. It includes a dash of Viognier and Philip Rich in the Halliday Wine Companion is impressed with the peppery black fruit aromas, comparing them to the famed reds of the Rhône's Crozes-Hermitage. He finds the whole "super impressive and accomplished… " and adds a Great Value star to the score of 96pts. In The Real Review, Stuart Knox writes: "Savoury and intriguing on the nose, mulberry fruit but it's smoky meats and forest floor notes that dominate. The palate shows equally savoury with a silken glide of very fine tannins caressing it incredibly long. There’s a lightness of touch here that is immediately appealing but will offer even more with air-time in a decanter".
