Jim Brand was a deeply passionate Coonawarra winemaker and vigneron who was born into the third generation of an Australian winemaking dynasty. Today, the family continue Jim’s legacy by crafting premium Coonawarra wines which reflect Jim Brand's drive, passion and endless pursuit for quality. The striking 93pt Yates Chardonnay is the perfect example of well known Cabernet regions, like Coonawarra, being home to equally impressive Chardonnay. A perfumed nose combines peach and stone fruit aromas with creamy buttery and vanillin oak characters. The palate is complex, smooth and rounded with a balanced acid structure. It displays strong peach and nectarine accompanied by creamy cashew nuts from barrel fermentation and maturation. Lingering fruit flavours last well after the last sip. "Elegant and stylish, the inviting bouquet shows ripe apricot, lemon pith, nougat and roasted cashew aromas, followed by a beautifully weighted palate displaying refined texture backed by bright acidity. The Shotfire range derived its name from the time when ansestors of the Clarke family discovered gold in 1870 at the Lady Alice mine in the Barossa goldfields. The Shotfirer had the hazardous job of setting and lighting the charge on the explosives used. The family interest in geology is retained today in their fascination with the terroir of the Barossa. This 'Quartage' is a blend of four classic Bordeaux grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot, which unite here to fragrant and elegant effect. Blackberries, satsuma plum and anise – lavish density, complexity and length, to enjoy now or lay down for years to come.
Charleston in Adelaide Hills is the location of Howard Vineyard's rolling 36-hectare Beautiful Valley Vineyard. They grow a many varietals here, but their best Sauvignon Blanc comes from 'Block Q'. The cool nights lock in great natural acidity and the warm days give lovely slow ripening conditions, all making the fruit vibrant and fresh. Howard Vineyard have crafted it into an attractive single vineyard wine – all free run juice, cold fermented. Ned Goodwin MW in Halliday Wine Companion notes its “ length and lingering succulence... 91pts. Great Value" and in The Real Review, Stuart Knox calls it "A very refreshing and classic example of the variety... 90pts”.
Harvested from a single Merlot vineyard near Paringa in South Australia. The vines are aged between 22 and 50 years and tend to be low yielding for the region as the Allegiance Wines team aim for quality as opposed to yield in their brilliant Gold-winning Fullylove Merlot. "Distinctive jammy cherry, spices and ash-like smoky notes on the nose. The palate is articulate and nicely perfumed with tannin presence. This is a clean, generous Merlot for marinated meats" (Gold medal, Gilbert & Gaillard wine judges).

Michael Kane, Chief Winemaker at Knappstein has a love for wine, and travel that has led him to visit and work across the world – Burgundy, Champagne, Oregon, Napa and Central Otago, and he has crafted many award-winning wines for celebrated brands such as Devil’s Lair, Stella Bella and Wolf Blass. The team at Knappstein consider themselves guardians of the vines, most of which are in excess of 50 years. They adopt a minimal intervention approach in the vineyard with the aim to create wines of real personality and unique regionality while maintaining rigorous high standards of sustainability. Silky 70% Shiraz-30% Cabernet combination, with juicy flavours of plums, mulberries and blackcurrants melding with dark chocolate and mint-cream on the back palate. Elegant, medium-bodied style with firm tannins and a lingering finish.
The Watervale sub-region of South Australia's Clare Valley has become synonymous with aromatic citrus and floral scented Riesling as fresh-tasting as the name Watervale sounds. The estate-grown vines which provide the fruit for the Crabtree Watervale Riesling range from 20 to 44 years old. The bouquet suggests fresh lemon and lime, touches of orange blossom and wild flowers. On the palate, the wine is perfectly balanced with a pleasant citrus backing. Will match well with a white fish ceviche. “Tingly & bright…Very smart... 92pts” (Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion). A must for Riesling lovers – and for those wondering why there are growing numbers of them.
