It’s wine like this, made using fruit from premium sites throughout the region, that makes South Australia a first choice destination for lovers of big, generous and velvety Aussie reds – consider it the state’s great gift to the wine world, not just at home but all over the globe. The Old Red River Gum Cabernet Shiraz flows with distinctive black fruit, eucalypt and spice, smoothed out by delicious dark chocolate and a touch of smoky oak. Wine Summary
The judges at China's Wine & Spirits Awards were impressed by this rich, spicy Shiraz, unanimously awarding it a Gold. It’s from John Quarisa, who for many years made wine for the biggest names in Oz, winning both the Jimmy Watson and Stodart Trophies. Today, with the help of his wife Josephine, he crafts winners like this. ‘Passion is Everything’ is their motto, and, after just over a decade in operation, their winery in New South Wales boasts four stars from Aussie wine guru James Halliday. He describes the “exceptional value for money provided by the wines” and is full of praise for this red. It’s deliciously easy going, but still packs a punch of luscious ripe fruit. A sure bet for a bbq, a roast or a hearty bake.

Wine Summary
Matured in American oak, the Black Duck Durif is full bodied and smooth with layers of spicy fruit. It's made by Sam Trimboli, whom many customers will know from his days at Warburn Estate, where he collected hundreds of awards for his legendary skills. During that time he developed an obsession for the obscure Durif, a “stunning little powerhouse grape that develops astounding complexity”, as he describes it. The Durif grapes for this wine come from a small vineyard that Sam helped establish in the 1980s. It’s now at peak maturity. In the 2021, he decided to add a small portion of punchy spice Petit Verdot for extra complexity and dark berry intensity. Perfect with char-grilled steak or strong cheeses, or as a warming glass solo.

Wine Summary
Since the launch of the first Yarrunga Field, Sam Trimboli has been delighting customers with his fabulous wines and winning awards. They don't call him 'Mr Medals' for nothing! Only in the last four years has he set up his own family winery and, in our opinion, is producing even better wines. He has made us the dark, spicy Black Duck from Durif, and the White Chardie Pinot Grigio Duck, but this is his first, and very delicious, Rosé. Sam is from Italian heritage – his grandfather grew vines in Italy 90 years ago and his parents emigrated to Oz in 1967 – so perhaps it's of no surprise that he has used nearly all Montepulciano here. A splash of Vermentino adds extra lemony zip. A pretty hue, lovely ripe fruit and zesty freshness. Taste his delicious Gold-winning pink in a BIG 1.5L MAGNUM.

Wine Summary
Campo de Borja used to be known for making high-volume wine of little quality. During this period in the 1950s, Señor Andrés Ruberte planted Garnacha vines on his small estate, strongly believing in the potential of these grapes. This pioneering spirit paid off. Today Campo de Borja is considered one of Spain’s most highly prized regions. The winery that started with Andrés continues to thrive. Now part of the forward thinking and award-winning company, Artiga Fustel, this tantalising pink is made by the skilled hand of Scottish-born Pamela Geddes. With numerous medals to her name Pamela has crafted another beautifully refreshing vintage. Enjoy this berry-fresh rosé as a light apéritif or with crisp salads, chicken or seafood paella.

Wine Summary
The mouthwateringly vibrant 30 Mile Riesling is crafted by the talented John Quarisa, who – aside from winning Australia's coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy – has enjoyed a “distinguished career as a winemaker spanning over 20 years” (Halliday). John likes his wines to express big personality, juicy fruit and value for money. They also have a magic knack of winning Gold – often several times over! His Riesling is fresh, aromatic and bursting with citrus. Lemon and lime liven up the palate, with subtle green apple hints. Racy acidity makes a fantastic pairing with a platter of fresh prawns.
