Wine Summary
Christophe Reboul Salze is a big name in Bordeaux. Born in central France, he fell in love with the region's wines in his youth. Arriving in Bordeaux in 1980, he decided to make his passion a career. He gained a decade's experience trading in Grand Cru Classé wines and became director at one of the leading houses. Then started his own négociant business, which remains today a leader in the field. However, he wanted to make wine too, so he purchased three estates in the Right Bank's Premières Côtes de Blaye. He employed Stéphane Derenoncourt as consultant and the results have been exceptional. This superb claret uses a cuvée from his properties, Châteaux Les Grands Marechaux, Gigault and Belle Coline. A fine red exclusive to our customers.

Wine Summary
Rewind 25 years and nearly every wine merchant offered a good, ordinary claret perfect for lunchtime sipping. Well, Comte Desclos is a revival of that style. Unpretentious and uncomplicated, with lots of appealing fruit, good structure, but no hard edges. Our Bordeaux buyer has taken full advantage of his network of Bordeaux contacts to put this together. He tasted cuvées from the length and breadth of the region, all from the exceptional 2020 vintage. Then using winemaking skills perfected at top estates in Bordeaux and Rioja, he blended this cracking little claret. It’s made mostly from Merlot, so it has soft plum and redcurrant flavour, a touch of oak and enough richness to go with all kinds of dishes.

Wine Summary
Ludovic Roussillon is one of the top viticulteurs in Bordeaux’s Entre-Deux-Mers. He knows how to coax the very best out of his soils to get the most flavour in his grapes. Work hard in the vineyard and the wine almost makes itself, he says. We’ve worked with Ludovic for a number of years, enjoying both his red and his white from Château Le Coin. This is another wine from his vineyards – mostly Merlot, with a little Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon – all vinified to bring out the fruit richness, supported by sleek tannins. Rethink Bordeaux with this supple, generously fruity, rounded red. It’s already drinking really well, with or without food. Roast beef, full flavoured pasta dishes, charcuterie, cheese – this wine is very versatile.

Wine Summary
Bordeaux has been blessed in recent years with a run of terrific vintages. Jeb Dunnock recently wrote, "Bordeaux has another terrific vintage on its hands with 2020", while Jancis Robinson MW wrote, "Tasting the 2020s was a real joy." Here, we present a charming petit château Bordeaux from a small estate, close to the Garonne, in the south of the Entre-Deux-Mers. At 100 metres altitude and planted on sand, clay and silt soils, its vines – Merlot, plus Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon – thrive and have produced this most attractive claret. Already appealing, the wine is still young, so it's best opened early and decanted. A fine, well structured and well-balanced red to serve with classic red meat dishes, a rich veggie casserole or cheese.

Wine Summary
Few wine regions offer more opportunity for discovery than France’s famed Bordeaux, and we’ve found you a lovely treat in Château Les Aubitriés. The estate’s vineyards have been certified with France’s highest environmental designation, so you know sustainability meets great quality in every bottle. This red is from a top vintage: 2020 was “another great year for Bordeaux” (James Suckling), while Jancis Robinson MW declared "some stunning wines have been produced". Boasting three Golds, it’s a classic blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Look forward to ripe plum, blackberry, and earthy spice characters, plus soft tannins and a long, smooth finish. A delicious match for roast duck or dishes such as mushroom risotto or cassoulet.
