Inland from Venice, the high-altitude Adige Valley is home to some of the best quality Pinot Grigio in Italy – healthy, ripe grapes with light pink skins and terrific aromatic freshness make for elegant rosato. Il Pino is made by Giorgia Brugnara, winemaker at the 150-year-old Concilio winery, and there’s nothing she doesn’t know about local speciality Pinot Grigio. Her classic rosato is just the sort of wine chic Italians choose to drink in the lakeside bars and restaurants. 2022 has proved a top vintage in many parts of Italy. The crispness is all there in Veneto whites and rosés, along with an appealing berry-filled aroma and flavour. Elegant and refreshing on its own, this is an ideal match with seafood, a risotto or salads.
