Wine Summary
Fresh lifted red fruits on the nose and a hint of savoury spice from the large format oak. The palate is the perfect balance between power and elegance, with subtle oak enhancing the mid palate which is extended by the fine, clean acid structure. A powerful, structured Vat 9 which still retains its medium bodied pedigree similar to the great vintages of the past. Made only from the oldest and best red blocks on the Ashmans property, the 1892 8 Acres, 1968 Contours and 1908 Wienkeller. All are grown in deep volcanic, red clay soils with an average vine age of 50 years.
