Wine Summary
The Barossa’s exceptional Five Red Star Teusner estate was set up in 2001 by ex-Torbreck winemaker Kym Teusner and brother-in-law Mick Page. Halliday is a big fan – “as each year passes, the consistency, quality (and range) of the wines increases; there must be an end point, but it’s not easy to guess when, or even if, it will be reached”. He's also a fan (as are we) of this superb Shiraz Mataro. <i> “An even split between Shiraz and Mataro, aged 1 year in seasoned oak. There’s a flurry of bright, juicy fruit, earthy, warm spices rolling onto palate just shy of full-bodied. There’s a succulence here with lithe tannins, there’s depth and structure; it’s absolutely commendable to make quality and deliciousness ... 94 points” </i> (Halliday).
