Wine Summary
Back in the 1980s, the pioneering Planeta family put Sicily on the wine map with their award winning Chardonnay, grown on hillside slopes leading down to Lago di Arancio (Orange Tree Lake). Planeta wines are truly world class and come with a price tag to match, but a tip off from our friend Alessandro Gallici led us to the estate next door. Named after a local Mafia town, i Corleonesi is made by winemaker Leonardo Urso. It's a bold, juicy Cabernet Sauvignon and a serious rival to its expensive neighbour. Sicily's countless hours of sunshine deliver plenty of concentrated black fruit and this gorgeous red is soft enough to enjoy on its own. To get the most out of it you should serve it with slow cooked osso buco or tomato based pasta.
