Wine Summary

Mewstone Vineyards was set up in 2011 in the charmingly named, tiny Tasmanian hamlet of Flowerpot by brothers Matthew and Jonny Hughes. They specialise in (extremely) small-batch winemaking. Using often unconventional winemaking methods, the very well-travelled Jonny Hughes focusses on making each wine a genuinely unique creation. His meticulous efforts have delivered a raft of high scores as well as the recent Best New Winery honour.

“Tasmania hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Sauvignon Blanc, but there are some positive signs, especially from wines such as this where the tropical fruits are lively, ranging through guava, passionfruit with a dressing of lemon juice. No attempt has been made to inflate the dimension of the wine, none needed… 94 points” (Halliday).
