Duca di Cardino is made by the Barbanera winery, founded in 1938 and still family run today. The wine is named after a family ancestor, Orazio Barbanera, who defeated the Florentines in a skirmish in a field of artichokes, earning him the title Duca di Cardino (Duke of Artichokes). This stylish tribute to the Duke blends Sangiovese with local stars Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo for a ripe cherry character with hints of spice and leather. Enjoy its dark cherry and chocolate tones, a treat with roasts or Tuscan bean stew. Saluti!
