Wine Summary
Château Beauvillage lies in the tiny Médoc hamlet of Couquèques, close to the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic, both of which help to moderate the climate. The property was founded in 1925 by the grandfather of the current owner, who passed his love of the land and wine to his sons Christian and Claude. Today it's run by the third generation, Valérie Bugada Jean and her husband, Eric, who firmly believe in sustainable viticulture. Their 24 hectares of 35 year old vines have a high percentage of Merlot for the Médoc, but the clay, limestone and gravel soils are well suited to this grape, while 10 hectares of Cabernet also grow well, providing crunchy cassis notes and structure. With Gold and 96 points, it's a wine to snap up. Best decanted.
