Wine Summary
Boasting a whopping 97 points from Decanter, 93 from London's IWC and a Gold medal, this is very classy stuff indeed. The fruit for the lovely Coco Rôtie, an impressive few rows of vibrant, tiny-berried, intensely flavoured Shiraz in the McLaren Vale. The single vineyard plot, with some vines over 30 years old, belongs to acclaimed grower, Jeff McMurtrie, whose family has been farmers in the region since 1882. Using the northern Rhône’s ancient recipe of Syrah with an aromatic lift of Viognier, Coco Rotie was aged 14 months in premium small oak barriques. You’ll enjoy aromas of raspberries, blackberries and apricot (classic for Viognier) – and  bold, dense fruit flavours, with smoky blackberry married with a dark chocolate and raspberry liqueur, with toasty cedar and vanilla notes. Serve it with beef and oxtail stew, steak and kidney pie, pink rack of garlicky lamb … or steak tartare.
