Clare’s famed Watervale sub-region and the Mitchell family have produced classic Riesling for decades. Under the watchful eye of Jane and Andrew Mitchell, all vineyards are managed organically, with biodynamic composts used for more than 10 years. It’s a treat to see this 2016 gently grow in complexity, the kaffir lime and lemon blossom of its youth develop into a deeper lemon-lime cordial flavour with hints of brioche toast and quince lingering in the background. Lovely textural savouriness, with salty mineral undertones. A lovely example of why Riesling is so fascinating. 94pts from Halliday on its release.

Eden Valley’s Mountadam Vineyards is nestled on a unique rocky outcrop ranging in elevation up to 550m. The vineyards were founded over 50 years ago by David Wynn, a legendary name in Australian wine. It produces wines of exceptional flavour, as evidenced by this intense, citrussy, floral example.
" Blessed with the elegance of the cool, historic Mountadam High Eden vineyard, planted in '68 at 550m elevation, Phil Lehmann has upheld the fragrance and tension of the place with a cool fermentation, even in the powerful '20 vintage. Lily perfume is underlined by signature lemon and kaffir lime, the season leaving its imprint in subtle mandarin exotics. Impeccably handled phenolics leave the long finish to a line of cool acidity.
