Awarded Best in Class by Winestate magazine, a Top Value recommendation by The Real Review, and a solid 93pts from WineOrbit, this Pinot Rosé from the Yarra Valley's Hirsch Hill Estate deserves your attention and a place at your table. With aromas of strawberry, grapefruit and soft hints of lemon peel, the consistent follow through to the palate displays further notes of strawberry with flavours of citrus and red apple. The beautifully balanced acidity and textural creamy finish make for one mouthwatering Rosé.

Yet another finely balanced Heirloom treasure meticulously crafted by leading light winemaker Elena Brooks (Halliday calls her “gifted” and we absolutely agree!). A lovely expression of Adelaide Hills, beautiful with a seafood platter. This is bright and pure with layers of tropical fruit; melon, passionfruit, guava, and more. Simply delicious.

Established in 2009 by Bill and Vicki Widin, 5 Red Star Leogate Estate is only 12 years old, but is already a formidable force. As Halliday says, they’ve had “a string of wine show successes for their very impressive portfolio”. “Hand-picked, standard Leogate chardonnay vinification, except here the oak and stainless steel split is 90% fermented in new and used French hogsheads, 10% in stainless steel, blended after 10 months. Presumably no facility for whole-bunch pressing. Driven by stone fruit rather than citrus, and best consumed sooner than later… 92pts” (Halliday Wine Companion, James Halliday). To 2023.

Winemaker Steve Grimley knows how to tell a good story. He's famous for his long yarns. His Pinot Noir also tells a story, of varietal, place and vintage – it's a full-flavoured expression of Pinot Noir brilliance. Red cherry flavours drive the palate, with wild herbs and spices singing along. Heavier palate weight than many Pinots; bursting with freshness. A reminder that the Adelaide Hills is among the top echelon of Australian regions for Pinot production. The finish is delicate, with lingering savoury florals of lavender and soft tannins.

Today, the winery is headed up by Martin’s son Sam, who has overseen a transition to organic and biodynamic practices to deliver wines of exceptional quality. This is the follow-up vintage to the 95pt 2017 – "... a delicious wine of aromatic complexity and textural intrigue... righteous and just, all in service of pleasure...95pts" (Ned Goodwin MW, Halliday Wine Companion).
